We find that the kitchen is certainly the heart of our home. We don't get to spend much time at home, but when we are home (and awake) we are in the kitchen. When family and friends are over, we end up gathered around the island or the kitchen table. We picked our floor plan based on the kitchen and how it flows with the rest of the house. It is my favorite room.
